The Siege of Ottawa is Over

The Siege of Ottawa is [hopefully] over. What’s left is the aftermath.

After about 24 days and over $800,000 CDN money lost daily just to police the crowd as well as millions lost by companies, restaurants, institutions and others plus employee wages and everything related to them.

Over 190 arrests including two of the organizers [the other cowards fled] of which at least half have already been charged. Then there were over 50 vehicles that were also towed.

At least 76 financial accounts have been frozen since the Emergencies Act was invoked on Feb. 14, affecting more than $3 million in funds. Those with frozen accounts mean they can’t use their own money for food, gas, legal bills, housing, etc.

Especially for the leaders of the Siege, they will probably be hit with stiff fines and prison sentences. Their assets including vehicles and other property could be sold off to pay for the fines and legal bills [i.e. lawyers]. On top of that there is already at least one class action lawsuit brought on by those in the area who were affected.

How crazy were some of the protesters? Bring their children to the Siege and using them as human shields. Those children seized were placed in the custody of children’s social care.

A tweet by a Fox News contributor with more than one million followers claimed a woman involved in the incident died in hospital. Family members said the woman involved suffered a broken clavicle. “She is alive presently resting in a good bed snoring,” according to a video released. The Fox contributor then backtracked but said she has a heart condition!

Some on Twitter claimed that some type of gas was used. No reported gas usage since you didn’t see the police with masks.

When the Siege began, it was the truckers complaining about being forced to get vaccinated or they could lose their job. But it morphed into a huge pot of complaints that had little or nothing to do with the truckers or vaccines.

Some pushed for an all out ban of all mandates, masks and vaccinations. Others want to have provincial premiers, the Prime Minister, the Lieutenant Governor and all the Members of Parliament to resign and a group of non-elected citizens to take over – as if they know how to run a government – among other things. Anything related to mandates, vaccines and masks were secondary to them. Still some [like in the US] claim the federal election in 2021 wasn’t legitimate.

Still some were pushing their far right agendas to be mixed in. Some of the organizers themselves [who gave them that authority?] had pure white, anti-Semitic, anti-Islam, anti-minorities agendas.

And of course others were typical anarchists and trouble makers. [I’m sure these cowards were the first to run like cock roaches away once the arrests began.]

It was shocking to see what the people at the Siege got away with. At least one hot tub, until the crackdown there were jerry cans constantly coming in to refuel idling trucks, food was coming in easily. This is why the Ottawa Chief of Police resigned. Soon after, other resignations in the Ottawa government.

As a note, there are several jurisdictions just like in Washington. You have the city police, the provincial police, the RCMP and the police on Parliament Hill. While the Trump Insurrection took a few hours before the authorities got their act together, three weeks was a bit too much.

The Act grants Canadian authorities to freeze the assets of anyone know that were involved in the Siege.

The Act also allows police from other provinces at all levels to come to the aide at the request of authorities. [Only Ontario and Quebec have their own provincial police in addition to local police. Other provinces and territories have the RCMP in addition to local police.]

The federal government had the option to bring in the military under the Act but chose not to.

After the government invokes the Act, there is a debate in Parliament whether or not the Act’s should be continued to be invoked. If so, the Act can continue for up to 30 days. Parliament approval is needed to extend the Act. Later on, an inquiry will be required to study what happened and make recommendations.

Note: This siege shouldn’t of gone on for too long. When Ontario Premier Doug Ford decided to get his ducks in a row, he decided to break the siege in Windsor because truckers and their cronies were blocking a bridge between Windows or Detroit [in the US] causing at least $390 million in loses to the economy per day. It seems Ford was more interested in the economy than the people in Ottawa. We will see if he survives a provincial election that must take place on or before June 2nd.

What to do with those that go off to fight [against us]

In case you missed it, recently two attacks against the Canadian government happened within days of each other.

The first one didn’t get much coverage. A man described as a radicalized Islam convert, rammed his vehicle into another vehicle that had two Canadian soldiers inside. One of them died. There was some media coverage outside of Canada but nothing huge.

But two days later, when another Islamic convert, killed someone standing on guard at a war memorial before heading into Canada’s Parliament buildings in Ottawa – shooting up Parliament before he was killed by the Sergeant-at-Arms [can be described as the head of security for Parliament]. Then everyone took notice – worldwide.

In both cases, the Canadian government had revoked their passports because both intended on traveling to the Middle East most likely to fight for Islamic State. [In both cases, they also had previous run ins with the law such as drug use, robbery, uttering threats, etc.]

So the question is if the policy of revoking passports for these alleged terrorists is wise to do while they are in the country?

They were monitored by the Canadian government for suspicions of doing something illegal but had no definite proof. But the government was allowed to revoke their passport. So they can’t leave the country.

Wouldn’t of it been better if these two [plus about 90 others who have had their passport revoked] be allowed to leave the country and then have their passport revoked once they landed [and went through customs] at their destination?

We don’t need them. Let them go. We don’t want them back.

If they would have left these two incidents probably wouldn’t of happened.

Now there are maybe 90 others who can’t fight with the Islamic State who may decide instead to attack targets in Canada.

Meanwhile, the government over the year has reduced the budget for the security of Parliament. The gunman got into the building without much of a fuss. This, again, could have been avoided if proper security was used. They say the building has too many entrances. Obviously, something like metal detectors, closed circuit television cameras and more security is required.

Food bank rejecting food

Go figure. Depending on where you are, you may have heard about an Ottawa (Canada) food bank refusing food.

While many food banks are happy to see donated food come in as they have shortages, this food bank was rejecting food.

Ok. We can say for sure all food banks would reject any food that has expired, broken packaging, etc.

Well, this food bank decided to exclude what the food bank coordinator called unhealthy food. She is rejecting items like Kraft Dinner, canned stew, chips, soft drinks, candy, etc.

She wants those who get the food to eat healthy food.

While some clients of the food bank agree with the policy, others as well as those commenting online don’t seem to agree.

Some have suggested that she would technically be starving some people because they wouldn’t be getting the amount of food the bank would normally get. Some also suggest she should be fired.

So is it better to starve people or at least let them have some food? Some food is better than no food.

Additionally, it is not wrong to have some of this food as long as it isn’t all the time.

Of interest to note is that the woman herself doesn’t look so healthy herself. She doesn’t seem pregnant but she has a waste that isn’t thin.
