Microsoft Windows 10 version 1511 (Threshold 2) is imminent

Seems like Microsoft is ready to release the first major update – codenamed “Threshold 2” for Windows 10 very soon. Build 10586 was released to “Windows Insiders” this week. No evaluation copy messages or anything similar. If so, this build could be released to the public somewhere during the week of November 23rd.

There is also a slight change in the versioning. When Windows 10 was released in July the version was “Version 10.0 (build 10240)” but build 10586 is shown as “Version 1511 (OS Build 10586.0)”. So the full version is showing the release year and month of the build and not “10.0” anymore. Also note the “.0”. Would that be some type on incremental updates? Who knows.

November “Patch Tuesday” patches already contain updates for Windows 10 named “Windows 10 Version 1511”.

Unsure how this update will be released to those who have Windows 10 and what about those who have it downloaded on their computer but not installed…..

Further updates are expected in July [1607] and November [1611] of next year.

Will there be a “Y2.1K” issue in 84 years with version 1511? 🙂
