Computer Tip: Fixing can’t find product when updating Office

Every once in a while something wrong with your Microsoft Office installation and updates won’t install.  So you then download them manually and get the message:

The expected version of the product was not found on the system.

You know you have the right update for your version of Office. So what do you do?  If you add the following on the command line after the executable you downloaded, it will ignore the product and/or version check.

The text above must be in upper case. For example:

   graph2010-kb2222222-fullfile-x86-glb.exe PACKAGE.BYPASS.DETECTION.CHECK=1

[The update doesn’t exist for Office.]

One thing you can’t do is to combine this parameter with /QUIET or /NORESTART or others.
