Computer Tip: Disabling Windows 8.1 Charms

I don’t know about you but if you are using Windows 8.1 without a touch screen, you may find the “Charms” that debuted in windows 8 quite annoying. In this tip, I will show you how to disable the feature. [Don’t worry – you can put it back if you really miss it!]

Right-click on Taskbar and select Properties at the bottom. This will open the Taskbar and Navigation properties window.

Go to the Navigation tab and uncheck your choice of the following options in the “Corner navigation” section:

  • When I point to the upper-right corner, show the charms. [This will disable the Charms Bar.]
  • When I click the upper-left corner, switch between my recent apps. [This will disable the App Switch list.]

Apply the changes and this will immediately disable hot corners in Windows 8.1.

Note: If you are using Windows 8 [not Windows 8.1], time to update! Support for Windows 8 [not Windows 8.1] will be stopped later this year.
