Computer Tip: Why install .net Framework 4.5.2

Microsoft updates it’s “.net Framework” software often enough – unfortunately primarily with security updates. For the lack of better word, .net Framework is common software used for developers. Thus when a version is installed, the developer just needs to release their software and not potentially extra software that is already on the system.\

With each new developer software and/or release of Windows comes an update.

The latest .net Framework is 4.5.2 which includes support for Windows 8.1 Update.

But .net framework 4.5.2 also incorporate 4.0, 4.5 and 4.51. [Note that .net framework 3.5.1, 3.5, 3.0, and 2.0 are different].

So if you have a new system you just bought [or built] or want to reduce the number of updates to install [for example .net Framework 4.0 has a small stack], installing .net Framework 4.5.2 will reduce your install time as it includes 4.0, 4.5 and 4.5.1 plus all updates for them [since around April 2014].

To install .net Framework 4.5.2, you must have a supported version of Windows – one of the following:

  • Windows 7 Service Pack 1
  • Windows Vista Service Pack 2
  • Windows 8
  • Windows 8.1
[or servers at the same “level”]
