Computer Tip: Bring back Libraries to Windows 8.1 navigation pane

With the update to Windows 8.1, the Libraries feature has disappeared from the Navigation pane [that’s the left column] in Windows Explorer.

Some like Libraries. Others don’t. If you have just a single computer, it is for the most part useless. If you have a small network that the computer belongs to, it can be useful.

So, if you want the Libraries back in the Navigation pane, here’s is what to do:

  • Open Windows Explorer.
  • Click on the View tab.
  • Click on Folder Options.
  • Click on where it says Show libraries.
  • Click on OK to exit.
