New Windows account phishing scam

There is a new phishing scam floating around. The Email claims that [I guess] your copy of Windows will be suspended. Wrong. Once you own a Microsoft product, it is yours to keep. See below.

You can tell there is something fishy with the message. “Microsoft Windows Records”? Sound official but doesn’t exist. Why is the “P” in permanently [first paragraph] capitalized? No space in “48hours”. What previous message? “…records has advised…” Missing some text or something.

Microsoft has also stopped using the logo used in the Email. It’s this one here.

Finally, Microsoft generally includes a footer message like a copyright notice, contact information, etc.

















If you use OpenDNS, it has been reported and the link should be disabled.
