Windows “Blue” could be out by summer time

Whether or not the information is true, Microsoft is already working on a major update to Windows 8 – codenamed Windows Blue.

According to reports, it may be released in August and will include improved search speed, a faster kernel, support for 7- and 8-inch tablets and even a reported Internet Explorer 11. Also update are Mail, Calendar and other integrated apps. Blue also was expected include some kernel and driver-level updates which could help with battery life and overall performance.

The desktop will be trimmed a bit more and some of the last vestiges of the visual gloss that the operating system has accumulated over the years will disappear. Blue will allow users to resize their Live Tiles.

Microsoft is not calling this a service pack though. But like a service pack, it will be free for current Windows 8 owners.
