More on the massacre in the US

Well, as a follow up to my previous blogue on the subject of the massacre in the US [ ], there has been a few developments.

From their web site, the National rifle Association [NRA] has stated that “the NRA is prepared to offer meaningful contributions to help make sure this never happens again.”

And I’m going “Uh huh”. How will they do that without affecting fellow members? I would love to see what they will do [not say but do] to make sure this doesn’t happen again.

They will obviously not agree to a ban on the semi-automatic rifle that was used in the massacres. At the same time, they don’t want to paint their members as the guilty parties.

Well, the NRA responded today [Friday] with probably the most ridiculous comments. Probably shocked many people with what they said.

Among other things, they suggested that armed guard should be placed at school. Their reasoning is is that since they guard the President, banks, federal institutions and others, why not schools. I can see a gun going off by mistake at one of them. They are suggesting more guns than less.

The NRA also blamed the media for the problems with guns and not guns themselves. Guns and violence on TV, in movies, in music and other medias are the reason. A sort of guns didn’t fire the bullet – people did. How ridiculous.

Former RNC Chairman Michael Steele said on MSNBC after the NRA’s statement that  ” I just found it very haunting and very disturbing that our country now that are talking about arming our teachers and our principals in classrooms. I do not believe that’s where the American people want to go.”

President Obama [now considered a lame duck presidenct because he doesn’t have to worry about re-election] has stated he wants action by Congress in January and has mentioned of putting back in place the gun controls that were in place prior to 1995 when a Republican majority killed renewing the law then.

Obama has given the project over to his second in command, Joe Biden, who is a strong gun control advocate. Thoughts of Biden’s future political career could rest on whether he actually does something.

I was having lunch with a friend and some of his friends. Two of them own licensed guns. Before you can get a license in Québec for a hand gun [if I remember right], you have to take a test as well as be interviewed by the Sûreté du Québec [SQ] – the Québec provincial police.

If you want a gun for self defense, you won’t get it. As well as give references to people that you know very well. Each one of them will be contacted by the SQ as well. Those given as a reference better be “clean”

Both owners saying getting a gun in the US is too easy.
