Computer tip: Windows 8 won’t map drive in some cases

For those privileged to have Windows 8 RTM, there is already a strange issue encountered. First the issue occurs whether or not you have UAC enabled or not.

If you map a drive to a network share as a non-administrator, click on the reconnect check box, the map will be correctly for future logins.

But this doesn’t seem to work if you are an administrator [domain or local]. Oddly, unchecking the reconnect box seems to work. The issue exists with group policies and on a Windows Server 2012 as well.

An interesting unverified workaround. If you map as a non-administrator and then give administrator rights, it works.

[Note: I have verified this but there are already complaints on the Internet.]
